Drop In Workshops

Outdoors, offline and (mostly) in person in Orinda, our drop in workshops are for kids who love to write, and also for the kids who want to, but just don't know where to start. They're a creative time out—a safe space to hone writing and public speaking skills while connecting with other kids, in an environment designed to be warm, supportive and nurturing. This is also a great place to start for kids who want to dip a toe into the idea of group writing, kids who can't commit to ongoing weekday classes and those who want more than weekly classes can offer.

Instructor Anne Feld Lowell runs an elementary school library, and has worked as a journalist, essayist and reporter for outlets such as The New York Times, Babycenter, The George Lucas Educational Foundation, and GreatSchools. She's also worked on staff as a writer and editor at Netflix, Ziff Davis, MacHome Journal and San Francisco Downtown Magazine.
